Two 'Incroyables', so named because, together with their female counterpart 'de Merveilleuses', they dressed extravagantly as a rebel group during the French Directoire ('1795-1799). Left: 'incroyable' dressed in a frak, striped cardigan and calf pants. Cravate. Striped stockings. Accessories include an earring in the right ear, diamond-shaped brooch(?), walking stick, top hat, boots with pointed noses. Right: 'incroyable' dressed in a frak with large lapels and double row of buttons. Striped vest and knee pants. Striped cravate. Stockings. Accessories: stitch with kokarde, lorgnet in hand, earring in the left ear, brooch(?) in the shape of a crescent, walking stick, flat shoes with pointed noses.
