Madame la Marquise de Polignac, a mask in hand, Antoine Trouvain, 1694 Canvas Print
Marquise de Polignac, dressed in a manteau with drag and engageantes, devant-de-gorge (chest piece) and skirt with falbalas decorated with fringes and tassels. Five mouches spread over face and décolleté. Accessory accessoires: fontange with slips, beaded necklace (pearl necklace), long gloves, impeller, mask. The print is cut out and pasted on another paper, recto is another print pasted (see RP-P-2009-2065). The print is not mentioned in Gaudriault : Répertoire.. p. 78-80, but is probably part of a series of 31 costume prints, of which 26 with women and 5 with men, engraved, and possibly published, by A. Trouvain, Paris, 1693-1696. The manuscript dates from 1700.
