Man in the 'French garden' in 1928, 1928 Canvas Print
Man (gardener?) stands up to his thighs in the tulips of the 'French garden'. In the background a view of a gazebo. In this garden, located on the south side of the museum on the eastern side, the gazebo was built in 1920, using a sandstone façade from 1731, which came from one of the gardens on the Keizersgracht, where houses had to be demolished to widen the Vijzelstraat. During the start of the Olympic Games, the gardens that were interestslessly planted with more than 30,000 tulips by the Central Flower Bulb Committee in Haarlem could be opened to the public.
