Map of the Wormer and Engewormer in the form of a bird, 1625, anonymous, 1625 Canvas Print
Map of the polders de Wormer, aka the Wijdewormer, and the Engewormer in the form of a bird. The body of the bird forms the WideWormer, the neck and head form the Engewormer. With his beak, he's holding a worm in the Zaan. His legs represent two drainage locks. At the top left and right the bird a cartouche with information about the future polder Enge- and Wijdewormer respectively. This print was published in 1625, before the completion of the prohibition of the Wijdewormer (1626) and Engewormer (1638), on a sheet with a text in print, presumably due to fear of drainage problems when draining.
