Model of a 44-Gun Frigate at a Careening Wharf, Cornelis over de Linden, 1837 - 1842 Canvas Print
Polychromed model of a keel quay with a crowned frigate, in the form of a chest. The foundation of the quay can be viewed by removing loose parts. Five of the six capes are used to keel the ship, and a keel mast prevents the ship from turning over. The ship's model balances with two small wheels, one against the front and one at the back against the rudder, on two brass support beams under the boards representing the water: with two strings attached to the keel and coming out under the box, the model can be straightened. For this purpose, the boards representing the water must be removed and laid down in such a way that they fit around the changed position of the ship model. The ship model is a block model of the frigate IJssel of 44 pieces with reduced rig, the large mast and breeding mast reinforced for the keel. It has forty-eight gun gates spread over two decks. Three decks in total: cow bridge with glass portholes, main deck, continuous upper deck with pit. The galleon has four comforts, the sheath image is a walking woman with jug. Elliptical fence and side galleries of a floor; State coat of arms at center-back. The sea dough is flat, the model has a barkwood and two roe deer. Peaked. The upper and harness are elaborated in great detail. Scale 1:50 (according to Obreen).
