Model of a 60-Pounder Muzzle-Loading Gun with Loading Gear, van de Weetering, 1863 Canvas Print
Model of a long cannon of 60 pounds on sliding carriage, with a new design loading utensils, on ship part with gun port, incomplete. The model is painted completely black, with the few metal parts. The wooden barrel is 35.8 cm long and has a caliber of 20.5 mm; it is equipped with a locking oddity and a visor holder on the tap piece. The affuit consists of two cheeks with four steps, connected by two axle bodies without wheels, and a soleplate. The gun gate is oval. With brackets, the loading gear is attached to the barrel: it consists of a wiper with a stem, which goes through two conductors at the end of a long rod. In the stem is a spiral groove, in which a rope is laid that gives the rotating movement to the wiper. This bar is attached to the brackets on the barrel and has rear handles with which the wiper can be brought directly in front of the mouth, or next to the cannon so that it can be brought in through the gun gate. The hoist, which must run over three eyes at the guides on the rod, and other parts with which the wiper must be operated, are missing. Scale 1:10 (Obreen).
