Model of a Cora-Cora, anonymous, c. 1800 - c. 1875 Canvas Print
Polychrome hollowed out block model of a rowing vessel. It's a smooth-edged pointed gatter with straight stevens. It has built a sharp underwater ship on a keel, which could indicate a vlerkprauw: this could also explain the two reconstructed crossbars on stern and bow, which could be holders for floats. It has a foredeck, a cabin amidships that extends in three parts to the overhanging fence. The model is decorated with two eyes at the bow, lattice windows, and on the bulkheads gilded reliefs of birds. Fourteen rowing points are indicated on overhanging corridors, and behind the ship has rudder supports for two side rudders, where the cabin has two openings for the helmsmen. A damaged strut in the foredeck suggests a kind of rigging support, while a hole at the bow could be a mast hole, possibly for a three-legged mast, which has been reconstructed on the model based on literature.
