Model of a Gun Carriage, Rijkswerf Amsterdam, 1854 Canvas Print

Model of an affuit, incomplete. The body narrows forward. The transverse bandage between the cheeks consists of an oblique calf with chest piece with chest flap, and the ash bodies; soleplate is a longitudinal beam between the axle bodies. The cheeks have three steps and an elliptical cut-out below. A carriage is fitted under the axle bodies, on which a clamping device acts as a brake against the recuul; this brake is missing. The carriage is a wooden frame, at the front with brass fittings and equipped with a spindle bolt. At the bottom of the rear axle body are two small rollers, with their axles radially in relation to the spindle bolt when the piece is on board; with a lever, these rollers lift the affuit of the rear wheels as the pastry must be. Brass eye bolts, tap attachments and other fittings. Scale 1:5 (derived).
