Model of a ship’s galley, anonymous, anonymous, c. 1799 - c. 1820 Canvas Print
Model of a ship's galley on a ground shelf. It is a low rectangular cabinet with a raised smoke box in the middle along the entire length, on which the chimney stands. With small legs, the whole is bolted on deck. The two sides on each side of the smoke box are identical except for the hobs: they consist of three fireboxes with grilles and vertically sliding doors. The hobs are simple metal plates with round holes for the pans and surrounded by a railing. Between the two rows of fireboxes under the smoke box, bread ovens with shelves have been installed, which are accessible on the short sides. The smoke from the fireboxes goes over the bread ovens into the smoke box and through to the chimney. Ovens have also been installed in the short sides of the smoke box. The model is equipped with nine small pans, two large and one colander.
