Model of a Topsail, anonymous, c. 1861 Canvas Print
Model of a marching sail of twenty-one sailcloths above and thirty and one below, with cruciate ligaments, four reven, three dolls, bow lines and laphorns, reinforced with leather. The reven consist of reef leaders instead of rifseizing: the reef leaders are ropes running over the reef bands, which are stitched at the reef holes; through this rope, when revening, toggles are removed, which are attached to the ra on a rope or iron rod. Six vertical ropes, which, where they cross the reef bands, are stitched, serve to pick up the sail when revening. Scale 1:10 (derived).
