Model of Foundations with Cross-Piling, Petrus van der Loo, 1855 Canvas Print
Sketchy patent model of the cross-section of a plot of land with cross-fence. Part of it can be removed so that the piles become visible. The piles are flat planks, which are grounded at an angle of 45°. The long poles have a pointed end and are all in the same direction. The short posts are lowered in the opposite direction until they hit the long one at a right angle; at the end they have two points, which penetrate into the long poles and prevent shifting. The heads of the piles are connected by a grid of planks lying on the ground, connecting both the poles of one row and the rows of piles.
