Model of the Construction of a Timber Ship, anonymous, c. 1824 Canvas Print
Model of the cross section of a ship amidships, with three decks. One side is planked, as well as half of the upper deck, the other shows only the wood and beams. The hull shape is completely square, the bottom composed of two layers of straight beams carried by two keels; the floor joists protrude beyond the ship's wall, so that at the bottom an edge is created, which is planked. The sides consist of vertical wooding, planked on one side. On one side, two knees with ten brass pins are placed in the kimmen, but these knees do not occur elsewhere in the construction. The decks are indicated by deck beams and clammy, carried by three rows of cover struts, protruding above the upper deck; deck beams and struts are inserted into the sides and bottom with half-wood joints.
