Model of the Stern of a Ship with the Screw Placed behind the Rudder, Duncan Christie, 1854 Canvas Print
Beautifully decorated block model of a stern with twisted mirror. The screw window has been replaced by a brass window for the rudder. The rounded stirring blade is divided into a top and bottom part. The schroeas runs through an oval eye in the rudder king and and between the parts of the rudder blade to the back of the window, where it is provided with an ordinary two-bladed screw. The screw can be turned with an ivory crank on the front of the model and the rudder has a brass tiller on the deck.
