Modes Mois de Fevrier, anonymous, 1726 Canvas Print
This fashion print from the Mercure de France of February 1726 compares contemporary fashion for men with that of 1714. Left 1714: a lackey dressed in justaucorps and knee-length trousers, with neckerchief and stitch. Next to him a gentleman in justaucorps, shirt and knee pants, with cravate. On his head an allonge or infoliopruik. Right 1726: a gentleman dressed in frak, justaucorps, kamizool, shirt and knee pants. With tied neckerchief and stitch. (Ornamental) gene on the left. His footman also wears a justaucorps and a stab to the head. The print is part of a series of five costume prints entitled Les Modes du Mercure de France, 1726-1730.
