The Israelites who have been bitten by snakes look at it, as a means of staying alive. At the bottom is a performance of Jonah being thrown overboard and being eaten by a fish. In the middle between two columns the title and two Bible texts from Mat. 12: 39-40 and Joh. 3:14-16 in Latin in which Moses and the brass serpent and Jonah are quoted as prefigurations for the suffering and death of Christ. The references to the Bible verses in the quotations have been swapped. This print is part of an album.
