Napoleon, De Celles and Duterage to pillory, 1813, anonymous, 1813 Canvas Print
Cartoon on Napoleon, possibly in connection with the abolition of excise duties (directing tobacco and bread?) with the departure of the French from the Netherlands in 1813. Stage on which Prefect Antoine de Celles, Emperor Napoleon and Duterage are bound to pillory. They are mocked by the audience, who mostly wear headgear with orange ribbons. Two men in the middle hold up tobacco leaves and a loaf of bread, some guys pick up stones from the street.
