Northwest corner of the Western courtyard during the renovation of 1928, 1928 Canvas Print
Western courtyard to the northwest., on the left are the west wall with two sculptures by Bart van Hove and on the right the north wall, photo taken during renovation, pile driving for the purpose of new floor. in the northwest corner a window to the basement has broken out. The wooden floor in the courtyard caused so many problems that it has been replaced by a raised concrete floor. This created a low basement, 2.25 meters, and a raised exhibition floor. With half-stone walls, three rooms in the courtyard were arranged. The original north, west and south façade of the courtyard were then hidden from view by a low ring wall. In the gap there was a 'proliferation of canals and pipes'.
