Parable of the wedding feast, Christopher of Shechem (II), 1629 Canvas Print
The king gives a wedding party for his son. He sits on his throne with his son and his bride next to him. The king sent his servants out to invite the wedding guests, but they would not come. In the background you can see that some people kill the servants. The city of the murderers was then set on fire. One of the guests in the room was not choosing a wedding dress. The king ordered his court servants to tie them up with hands and feet and throw them out 'in the utter duiternis, where they whimper and gnash their teeth'. There are letters for various elements of the performance. The print is part of an album.
