The album contains 24 sheets of brown cardboard with a total of 135 photos about the cultivation, use and smuggling of opium in the Dutch East Indies. In addition, photos of police stations, crimes, traffic accidents, forensic pathology and faces in Surabaya. The photos may have been taken for the police archive. The police photos contain captions. The album was presented on behalf of Chief Commissioner of Police Jacobs to Mr. Sijtze Koster at his appointment as Inspector-Head of the General Police, in Surabaya on July 24, 1930.
