Photo album with recordings of sights and works of art in Rome, various makers, c. 1860 - c. 1930 Canvas Print
Photo album in band of parchment. On the front cover the title and an image of Romulus and Remus sown by a she-wolf (the symbol of the city of Rome), in gold print and in relief. Both front and back are decorated with golden frames, the band back with a geometric and leaf motif. The bracts are made of white embarrassed paper. The album contains 102 sheets of gold on cut with as many photos. Each photo is framed and has an English-language printed caption. They are recordings of sights in Rome, mostly dating back to Roman antiquity: temples, gates, triumphal arches, columns, churches, squares and palaces. In addition, photo reproductions of paintings by Raphael, B.E. Murillo, G. Reni and Domenichino and prints of sculptures from the Vatican Museums, Capitoline Museums and the Lateran Museum. The prints may be of a later date than the recordings, given their good condition.
