Picquart gets the crown of victory, Adolphe Ernest Gumery, 1899 Canvas Print

This lithograph was made as a tribute to Colonel Georges Picquart, who, as head of the intelligence service of the French army, discovered that fraud had been committed in the Alfred Dreyfus case. As he continued his research, he was relieved of his duties in 1898 and sent to Tunis. Gumery has depicted Picquart as a tied-up hero, crowned by Fama (the Fame) with a laurel wreath. Dead souls come to life and stretch out to him.
