Plate with an image of a bathing woman, anonymous, c. 1750 - c. 1774 Canvas Print
Plate of porcelain, painted on the glaze in red, black and gold. On the flat a naked, bathing woman, possibly Diana, in a landscape, sitting on the waterfront; on either side of her a putto; in the background a village; the wall with a spearhead-border; the border with tendrils and attributes for hunting. Old label on the underside with 'F. Bodenham/ Elmhurst, Hereford/ 78'. The performance is possibly based on a print by Benoit Audran (1661-1721) after a design by Nicholas Fouché (1653-1733). European performance in encre de Chine.
