Julius Caesar Scaliger or Giulio Cesare della Scala (1484–1558) was an Italian humanist and physicist who spent much of his life in France. His portrait bust is placed in an oval, the gaze directed to the right. Around the portrait an architectural ornament frame with allegorical and mythological figures. Around the oval and in the cartouche under the portrait texts in Latin. Below the print (on the same page) a text in letterpress consisting of 24 lines of Latin by Janus Dousa Filius.
