Print Bible with representations from the Old and New Testaments, various makers, Jan Philipsz Schabaelje, 1646 Canvas Print
Album with prints with performances from the Old and New Testaments. The old testament title page is missing. For the New Testament a title page. The publisher Jan Philipsz Schabaelje obtained or bought the prints from publisher Claes Jansz. Visscher and bundled and reoriented various print series for Den Grooten Figuer-Bibel. The series and the arrangement are very similar to the one previously made by Claes Jansz. Visscher (II) published theatrum Biblicum in 1643, but also deviates from Visscher's edition. Schabaelje added text sheets explaining the prints. Sometimes he changed the arrangement within a series or expanded the series with separate prints, which he found fit into the same theme. The series were made by different printmakers after different designers. For each series a text sheet with an explanation of the performances in Dutch. In the front a cover and a blank sheet and in the back a blank sheet and a cover.
