Rectangular dish with plants, anonymous, c. 1600 Canvas Print
Rectangular shell of stoneware with indented corners and standing on four short feet, covered with a white silt and a green glaze. On the shelf an engraved decoration of a group of plants (grass necks?); the inner edge with a band with stripes and dots. The engraved decoration is filled with a white sludge (mishima technique). Two old labels on the bottom with 'Shino ware, so called Shino-Sotan. About 1600. Probably the work of captured Korean potters/ V. Transactions Ja[panese] Society, 1934-35' and 'Zie ook Morse/ bl. 191 and pl. XVIII/ Shino Sotan, 1530'. Shino (Nezumi Shino).
