Relief on the tympanian on the rear façade (west side) of the City Hall on Dam Square in Amsterdam. In the middle of the Amsterdam City Maiden with her feet on a globe, adorned with a Mercury helmet. Against the globe an astrolabe, passer and jacobs staff. Behind the City Maiden an Amsterdam kogge ship. At her feet on the left the river god of the Amstel, with a crown of piping, an otter and a grappling hook. On the right the river god of the IJ, with a ship's crown, a fishing net, an anchor and a dolphin. Around her, personifications of the four continents and their entourage offer the City Maiden merchandise from their regions. Left America (with featherweed) and Asia (with turban, camel or dromedary and incense barrel), on the right Europe (with emperor's crown and cornucopia) and Africa (with sun hat, necklaces and lion). Under the performance the assignment to the four sitting mayors from the year 1664 (Simon van Hoorn, Gerard Schaep, Andries de Graeff and Hendrik Hooft) and the thesaurieren ordinaris from that same year (Cornelis de Graeff, Joan van de Poll, Hendrick Dircksz.
