Relocation of The Night Watch to the South Wing (photo series B), 2003 Canvas Print

On 11 December 2003, Rembrandt's Night Watch was transferred to the South Wing in connection with the renovation of the Main Building. During this operation, the canvas was removed from the frame, wrapped, hung in a wooden frame and driven on a cart across the street to the other wing. There the whole was lifted up and brought into the building by a special slot. In the photo, the packed Night Watch passes the Bergpoort or Deventerpoort, in the garden on the corner of Jan Luijkenstraat and Hobbemastraat.
