Roemer with the capture of the city of Damiate, anonymous, 1644 Canvas Print
Konische, from a thread spun foot. Inserted bottom. The trunk, which is occupied with five rows of blackberry studs, is blown as a whole with the curved calyx. A ribbed thread indicates the transition from the trunk to the calyx. In an oval, made of volutes, the sequeession of the city of Damiate is engraved, represented by three aldermen in front of the city walls with a tower, on which martial people stand. On either side of the cartouche, a clock hangs from a curly leaf vine. On the leaf vine is a turtle. On the reverse side, the Stedemaagd of Haarlem is depicted. On her right hand hangs a coat of arms with the new coat of arms of Haarlem, a standing sword with two six-pointed stars on either side of the lamb. She sits on a lion, whose head emerges to her left. In her left hand she holds a palm branch. Two floating putti hold a laurel wreath above her head. Between the Stedemaagd and the capture of Damiate, a coat of arms with the old coat of arms of Haarlem, an arid, uprooted tree, is depicted. The coat of arms hangs in an oval medallion of stylized leaf bundles. To the left below the Stedemaagd is the monogram and the year 'JCM 1644'.
