Rome brings fame and art, Willem van Nieulandt (II), 1594 - 1685 Canvas Print
A stone with the map of Rome is crowned with three crowns and stands on a base, in which the Roman motto S.P.Q.R. is chiseled. The stone is flanked by fame with a trumpet, dressed as a Roman soldier, and by Painting, with painter's stick, brushes and palette, which crowns the stone with a laurel wreath. Print is part of a series of Roman ruins and coastal landscapes based on prints by Willem van Nieulandt. This series is a copy of the series, which Claes Jansz Visscher made after Van Nieulandt.
