Rue des mauvais Garcons with two talking figures for old brothel in Paris, Charles Meryon, 1854 Canvas Print
This old brothel in the Rue des mauvais Garcons in Paris was demolished in 1851. The sketchy character of the performance is striking, which we also see in the preliminary study. Few details have been worked out and the performance seems to consist mainly of light and dark surfaces. The poem that is in three verses above the performance is about the course of events in this street where men visited the brothel.
