Saint Maurus, Saint John Calabytes, Saint Marcellus I, Saint Honoratus (January 15-16), Jacques Callot, 1632 - 1636 Canvas Print
Sheet with four oval representations, each with inscription and date in Latin: at the top left the Holy Maurus standing on the water and reaching out a helping hand to a man who is in danger of drowning, at the top right Johannes Calabytes on a straw bed in a simple hut with a man, a woman and a child at his feet, at the bottom left of Saint Marcellus kneeling at a papal tiara, at the bottom right of Saint Honoratus who gives a staff and mitre to a monk (or he gets it from the monk). This print is part of a series of prints depicting the saints and the Christian holidays of the year. There are always four scenes of one plate printed on one sheet. Including the accompanying title page and frontispiece, there are a total of 124 records (490 performances). The three slides with the last 12 scenes (the changeable Christian holidays) have been cut into 12 small pictures in the third state, and published with a separate title page.
