Sand dumps at shelter B at Heemskerk, 1939 - 1941 Canvas Print

The basement B is covered with sand. These bomb-free cellars were built in 1940, after the shelters in North Holland villages turned out not to be safe. The museum's collection parts were evacuated there in 1939. In 1941 the new cellars were put into use.
