Saving the crew of the ship Woestduin, 1779, Arend Fokke Willemsz., 1780 Canvas Print
The VOC ship 'Woestduin' of the Chamber of Amsterdam got stuck on the Noorderassen near Vlissingen just before the return of its fifth home voyage from Batavia. On the left in the foreground, drownings are pulled aboard a poon, in the distance more lifeboats sail. Provisional sails have been attached to wreckage in order to be able to float in the direction of the coast.
