Sculptor in his studio, Abraham Bosse, 1642 Canvas Print
The sculptor shows his visitors, possibly the patrons, a model of his own invention (Venus and Amor). On the basis of this model, the 'bozzetto', the image was executed in large. The rough work, chopping the coarse shape into the stone, left the sculptor to assistants. He himself was only concerned with the idea and the finishing. The text tells that this sculptor works in wood, in stone and in wax and uses different types of tools. Chisels, passer and a mallet he used in the manufacture of this Venus and Amor.
