Sol (the Sun), Johan Gregor van der Schardt, c. 1570 - c. 1581 Canvas Print
Sol holds a hollow pipe resting on his head with his left hand. With his right hand, resting on his hip, he holds a staff. It stands on a wide pedestal, raised at the back. On this elevated part is the lion. Water once squirted from the lion's bet, which was led from the pedestal through the left foreleg to the beath. There is also probably a channel running through Sol's right leg to the tube on his head. This one seems to be closed in the pedestal.
