A soldier on guard, at his feet, to the right, who holds a musket (a certain type of firearm) with his left hand at the fork of the furket (musket fork) on which the barrel rests (no. 41), ca. 1600. With his right hand he presses a burning fuse on the rooster (part of the ignition mechanism) of his musket.
