Square apothecary pot of stoneware on high, spreading foot, at the corners rounded shoulder and short neck. Covered with a cream-colored tin glaze and painted in cobalt blue. The four sides are framed by a narrow arch in relief carried by karyatids and an angel's head. On each corner of the shoulder a man's head with mustache. One of the sides with the coat of arms of Johan Georg Herzog von Sachsen, the Elector of Saxony, with his monogram, coat of arms and 'H.V.C.Z.S' (Herzog und Curfürst zu Sachsen). On either side of the coat of arms the date '1618'. The opposite side with the inscription 'DAS. WALT. GOT. FRV. VND. SPOT. BISZ. MEIN. LEBEN. EIN. ENDE. HAT' and the monogram 'S.L'. The two remaining sides with a four-pass of stylized flowers. A decorative band on the shoulder. Armstadt[?].
