Cartoon on the French king Louis XIV who, as a city announcer, brings the news of the defeat in the battle of cape la Hogue in which the French under Admiral de Tourville were defeated by the combined fleet of England and Holland under admirals Russel and Almonde, 29 May to 3 June 1692. In the right hand a shrill, in the left hand a long list with the names of the burnt French ships, at his feet a barking dog, in the background the sea battle. In the performance a call in the name of the king in Dutch and French, at the bottom two verses of four lines in French.
