The Arminian Schans in Leiden, 1618, Claes Jansz. Visscher (II), 1618 Canvas Print
Magazine with a representation and a description of the Arminian Schans in Leiden. The ramp was erected on 5 October 1617 in the Breestraat near the town hall to protect the Remonstrant-minded midship and hostages. The print was probably copied to an earlier print with French verses (see FM 1327), but it may also be that this record is the original. Above the ramp is an allegorical element entitled 'd'Arminiaensche Bulleback'. Below the representation there is a description of the events up to 4 September 1618 and an explanation of the letters in the performance over three columns. Below is a Dutch verse in five parts starting with 'D'Arminiaensche Bulleback'.
