The draw contest depicts the struggle between the Republic and Spain for power in the East Indies and the West Indies, the golden stick that bestows wealth. At the top of the performance a verse of 4 lines in Dutch: An old Skipper of Monickendam etc. The print was used in a pamphlet against the peace negotiations for the Truce in the year 1608.
