Pictured are the warships: the Moon (or Crescent), Sampson, White Elephant, Virgin of Enkhuizen/Enchuiser Maegt, Levant Merchant, Seven Provinces, Bonaventura, Paragon, Sun, Unity, Julius Caesar, Fenix, Leopard and Mary. In the foreground the sinking ship Sampson with the crew leaving the ship. On the list (bottom centre) there is a carved cartouche on which, as a legend, a description with numbers and capital letters of the ships depicted and what happened with it.
