The Brocade Shell, Ryûryûkyo Shinsai, 1809 Canvas Print
Still life of different types of fabric and a red children's vest with a pattern of white cranes. In the foreground next to the cardigan is a fan in packaging; this was a common New Year's gift among traders. There's a cash book on the black rag. Print made for the new year of the snake, 1809. With two poems. This series has a literary association with a book entitled 'A series of shells as a brocade of the coast' written by Ôeda Ryûhô in 1749.
