On August 8, 1894, the battalion of the twelfth regiment arrived at the port of Genzan, their target being Seoul. They were sent back by Lieutenant General Nozu to Sakyrong in support of another brigade. Together they were called the Sakryong detachment and were the right flank in the attack on Pyongyang.
