Ono no Tôfû, or Michikaze (894-966) with a parasol in hand, looking at a jumping frog. Ono no Tôfû was one of the big three calligraphers during the Heian period (794-1185). This performance refers to an event from his childhood, when he decided to continue his writing career on the edge of a pond, after seeing frog make endless attempts to jump to a willow branch.
