Title page for the pamphlet: De Geplukte Tapoeijer, 1702, Romeyn de Hooghe, 1702 Canvas Print
A falling half-naked man decorated with feathers (tapoeijer) seems to be attacked by several birds, including an eagle and a cockatoo. The man (France, proposed as america's original occupant) tried to catch the parakeet for his gold (Portugal and its possessions in America), but falls from the tree and dies. All the other birds come to retrieve their feathers, which the man had previously looted. Title is on a separate text sheet.
