Travel album with recordings of works of art, persons and sights in Spain, various makers, c. 1850 - c. 1875 Canvas Print
Photo album with boards of green velvet, copper edges and two locks. On the front cover is the title 'España', executed in copper letters. The flyleaves are covered with a green woven fabric with a changeant motif. The album contains 39 sheets of gold on cut with 54 photos and 2 prints. The objects are partly inserted and partly glued on. The album was probably compiled by an unknown traveler through Spain. Given the French-language captions, possibly a Frenchman. They are mainly recordings of works of art that were exhibited at the Prado in Madrid at the time: paintings by Titian, B.E. Murillo, Velázques, G.B. Salvi, G. Reni, J. Pantoja de la Cruz, D. Crespi and J. de Juanes and shields and goblets. Also recordings of sights in cities such as Granada, Burgos, Salamanca, Avila, Madrid and Toledo. The album opens with a series of cartes-de-visite from the royal couple in 1867 and from bullfighters.
