Trowel used in the laying of the first stones of the dry dock, the turning lock and sea dock lock at Willemsoord and the Koopvaarders Schutsluis in Nieuwendiep. Silver trowel with palm handle. Inscription: The Vice-Admiral Bijl De Vroe has thus laid the first stone on the new dry dock in Willemsoord on the 28 Juny 1859. With this trowel, now belonging to J. Strootman, the first stone of the new Keersluis in Willemsoord was laid on 18 April 1859 by H.K.H. den Prins van Oranje. On the 26th of May 1854, with this silver (...) etc. Reverse: The 10 July 1861 was thus laid by the Vice-Admiral Bijl De Vroe the memorial stone (...) etc.
