Two ladies pose in front of a large baroque cabinet in the western courtyard in 1936. In the room of art- and crafts, paintings, tapestries and furniture are on display. In 1927, the sagging (wooden) floors of the opposing courtyard gave so many problems that a concrete floor was poured. This included a low basement (2.25m height) and a raised exhibition floor. With half-stone walls, three rooms in the courtyard were arranged, while the original facades of the courtyard were hidden from view by a relatively low ring wall. In 1929, the courtyard was furnished for temporary exhibition, for which the walls have been painted, radiators have been moved, the oak windows and arched fields have been cleaned, lacquered and oiled, linoleum laid. Subsequently, the space was redesigned for the "Rijksmuseum voor beeldwkunst en Kunstnijverheid", from which the 17th-century interiors were transferred. By the end of December 1932, the work was completed.
