Two Lidded Vases, anonymous, c. 1750 - c. 1780 Canvas Print
Baluster-shaped lidded jar of porcelain, painted in underglaze blue and on the glaze in blue, red, pink, green, yellow, black and gold. On the wall a pheasant on a rock near flowering plants (peony, prunus) and a fence. In the air flies a second pheasant, butterflies and birds. On the ground other flowers (aster, lotus, beautiful carnation), mushrooms (lingzhi) and a pond with ducks. On the shoulder a decorative band of small flower rosettes with curls and loose flowers on top. Above the foot a band with stylized leaf motifs filled with garlands with lucky symbols (music stone, coin, diamond). On the neck a band with 'crackled ice' and prunus blossoms interrupted by lobed cartouches with a landscape in ence de Chine. The outer edge in Imari colors with a band with clouds on shading interrupted by cartouches with lotus vines. The lid with the same decoration; lid button in the shape of a shishi. Famille rose.
