King Solomon built in Jerusalem the first Jewish Temple, completed in the 10th century BC. Chr. and known as the Temple of Solomon. The building was a successor to the Tabernacle, a tent that served as a temple during the journey of the people of Israel from Egypt to Canaan, this first temple was built in 586 BC. Chr. destroyed by the Babylonians. The second temple, that between 516 and 70 v. Chr. existed, what remained was a part of the Western wall (wailing wall; Hebrew: ha kotel ha-ma'aravi).
